The Film Exchange was built in the 1930's for several Hollywood motion picture studios as a film distribution and screening center. This space reflects the needs of time, with solid concrete construction for handling of the highly flammable film reels. One of the two film storage vaults will remain in the back of the space as storage or small office. The original explosion proof vault door will be functionally restored and preserve the unique historic character. The 2nd film vault will be converted into a private restroom. Both vaults are have original chimneys that convert to skylights. The private entrance opens off of our redesigned pedestrian courtyard. This is a 200 foot long central feature to be filled with inviting seat benches, landscaping and shop & office fronts. A decorative front gate is being fabricated now, and in time the alley will fill out with vines and lighting suspended overhead.
